Field Trips

Field Trips

A field trip at Camp Owaissa Bauer is no ordinary experience - make it an extraordinary time for your students with one or more of these special programs. All field trips include up to five (5) hours of exclusive use of the park and the use of the following amenities: dining hall/kitchen/rec patio/shelters/picnic tables/ open recreation fields/volleyball/basketball courts/softball field/ bath house and bus parking.

All programs are designed for kindergarten through 6th grade.

  • Educational & Recreational Programs:

    • Snails and Trails – Join us on the hunt to find the elusive Linguus Tree Snails that call Camp Owaissa
      Bauer home. Learn about the gastropods that inhabit South Florida and the mysteries that surround
      them.
    • Wings and Things – Learn about the winged wonders that call Camp Owaissa Bauer home. In this
      program students will discover the vast number of birds that you can find in South Florida. They will
      learn the similarities and differences between bats and owls, discover their role in our ecosystem and
      learn how these magnificent creatures have adapted to changing environments.
    • Bat Walk – Participants will get a first-hand look at the bats living at Camp Owaissa Bauer. During this
      night hike we will be looking for a variety of nocturnal creatures while discussing their role in our
      ecosystem.

    • 2 Programs: $4 per child
    • 3 Programs: $6 per child
    • 4 Programs: $8 per child
Orienteering

Let our experienced Naturalists teach your students how to use a compass, read a map and use their listening skills to following verbal directions. Students will then have an opportunity to use their new skills in one of our adventures.

X Marks The Spot

Help find Black Caesar's Lost Treasure! Students will use a compass, map and their listening skills to find hidden pirate markers to find the treasure.

Geocaching 101

Geocaching is a worldwide treasure hunt using GPS or compasses coordinates to locate a hidden cache. Join us as we learn all about geocaching and then going on a geocache adventure through the hammock.

Caves & Trails

Put on your hiking shoes and get ready to play, ``I Spy Natural Wonders.`` Trek through the rock and pine hammock then cool down and explore the Caves. The Caves are 10-12 feet deep which students can climb down into and explore!

Archery

For students nine (9) years and older. Participants will get instruction on proper safety techniques, how to shoot and get to practice their aim!

Hayride

Children of all ages will enjoy a bird's eye view through the hammock in a traditional tractor pulled wagon.

Reptiles Rock

Students will get an up close, hands-on look at snakes, lizards, bugs and more! They will also learn about their habitat, what they eat and where they live.

Campfire

Bring your hotdogs and s'mores! Camp Owaissa Bauer has a large campfire circle with seating - the perfect ending to a perfect day.
